What wonderful work you do! I wish I could contribute financially right now, but it takes all I make to care for all the animals
my family has rescued and owns. We have 4 cats, a rabbit, a spiny mouse, and our new addition is a super hyper, super smart
pit bull/boxer mix that our ex-neighbors abandoned when they moved. They didn't even try to find it a home, just left Zero
locked up in their yard to starve. As I said before, I would love to help out more with financing shelters, etc. but I only
work part time and take care of my adult autistic daughter who had a mild stroke and is diabetic as well, plus recently I
had to undergo radioactive iodine treatment for a growth on my thyroid. I have no medical insurance, sigh, so I owe the hospital
money. But my family and I do love animals and we saved 4 kitties who were either strays or, in Tigger's case, after 9 years
his family got tired of his severe allergies and just dumped him, declawed and vulnerable, on the street. So now he's ours
and such a sweet old fellow, even though he breathes like Darth Vader sometimes with his allergies, ha. I will bookmark your
site and hopefully one day I will be able to donate some funds to help out. Bless you for all you do! |

This is a wonderful, heart-warming story and I am so glad that people like Allison and Julia are out there. I have two rescue
dogs (which hubby and I rescued ourselves) and there are so many tragic stories. I can't say enough good things about people
like these ladies, who go the extra mile to help animals in need. This seems particularly true in urban/city areas, where
the number of pets in ignorant hands is stunning.
I can't always agree with the "don't go to a breeder" philosophy - Puppy mills and backyard breeders are one thing, but conscientous
breeders work diligently to breed *out* health and temperment defects, something that's not possible with mutt-breedings.
And if you need/want a certain breed for a certain purpose, then a shelter dog won't do, and there can be uncertainties in
behavior or temperment in shelter dogs of unknown parentage. That said, however, for the average pet owner who just wants
a companion, shelters are absolutely a splendid choice, and there are countless wonderful dogs and cats out there who just
need someone to love them. I applaud these ladies, and I wish I could hit the beat with them, to help police those mean streets
and save dogs like Mika and Phoebe. EXCELLENT WORK, LADIES! God bless you and the work you do. :-)
Cheers ~

What a great interview, you do wonderful work!! As Supervisor of a small Animal Shelter, I appreciate so much that there
are organizations such as yours, who are willing to step up and help special needs animals who are often labelled as unadoptable.
