Comments: The vehicle of the Mass Registry was a 79-80 Dodge diplomat with a Basic 318 V8.In 81 the same vehicle with 440 V8 on fenders it said Highway Safety and many local depts got grants also from state & got these Highway Safety Grant 440 V8 units with duel exhaust. They were quick for such a big car at the time.

Comments: The boston Police vintage photos that you have, i see that in a few was a anti war demonstration and it said it was taken in 1970 or 1971. those photos were actually taken Apr 15th, 1970, which was the day that Boston had the biggest riot in history, which i was there participating with other students. great pics and brought back fond memories of Boston, which is to me the best City on this Earth. thank you

Comments: Aloha, Sept.16,2007 Some really great pictures. although some of your information is not entirely correct. The MSP bought 1971 Ford Station Wagons. The reason I know this I had a Cruiser Accident on Beacon St. in the city of Boston, 11-15-71. In Cruiser 228. 228 was a 71,Ford Station Wagon. Because it was a Station Wagon, and due to lack of use, and the South Boston Busing in Oct. of 1974. Cruiser 228 was still in service out of SP Framingham A-5, well into 1976. The cruisers on the turnpike were White and Green right up until 1975.Then when the Federal Government enacted the National Highway Safety Act of 1975? All transportation from an accident was to be in a prescribed ambulance. So, all the Ambulance Cruisers went the way of 45 rpm's, Snap Jacks, Poodle Skirts, and soft hats. Then the Turnpike started ordering Ford 4 door sedans, in tu-tone blue, starting around 1977. The Turnpike cruisers, said STATE POLICE on the rear door. and bore the Turnpike logo on both doors. Aside from the dome light and the lollipop lights on the rear of the roof, there were no other markings.

Comments: this is a great site for car geeks as well as modelers. a good friend of mine bought a 65 custom interceptor. and just as you described, he said when he finally got the thing into 3rd it it felt like you could drive it off the end of the earth. this particular car had 3.00 rear gears but ive seen others with even higher ratios. great site
