Great story! I was there the following day taking photos for the newspaper. The two things I remember is a large motorhome
standing vertically against a telephone pole, and new cars scattered along the railroad tracks, and those tracks were about
the highest flat point in the valley. |

I was 12 years old and lived on Parkway Drive with my parents on that terrible night. I remember looking out our front door
during an episode of Little House On The Prairie and seeing the river at the top of the bank. We left the house then. I
remember my parents and Grandmother listening to the radio and all the reports and warnings. I spent years having nightmares
of there being water in my bedroom. I mark my life by that event. What happened before the flood and what has happened since.
This story is truly a vivid reminder of that time and I too think about it every time it rains even though I no longer live
in that area. |
