WHEN YOUR NEAR
When your near I'm happy yet sad.
I'm happy because your arms tightly wrapped around me.
But then sad because your soon to leave and not be able to see you for it feels like eternity.
Seeing your face, looking into your eye, I can see the fear in them but I also know your glad to be home.
You are home now,
there's no reason to cry now,
your in a comfortable house,
there's no use for you to shout,
you woke up in the middle of the nights,
dreamin about those fights,
remembering those flames,
screaming your best friends name,
wishing you were home,
but your on the battle field all alone,
hearing a few bombs,
and even a few moms,
you wake up in sweats,
cause you think you may be next,
but don't worry soldier,
your home now,
there's no reason to cry now,

my husband was in the 101st airborne infantry 3/327 I really dont understand all i know is that he was in fort campbell KY.He
was in iraq in 2003-04 I was still in high school and was never able to go there and visit but i know that he misses the 4
years that he spent there. when he came home for good he was a different person.. I guess what i'm getting at is that he misses
all of his friends that he made there and i would like to find some of them so he can catch up on old times.... he felt bad
the only thing he ever told me was that he felt like he was letting his brothers down when he got out when he did... |

Hi Eric,
Was trying to make a new thread post on the MP forum about "The Failure Of Police Handgun Training" as the content applies
to MP's as well, but couldn't make it work.
The brass may not like the mesage, but that won't change the facts. A WWII Sgt (Big Red One on his right shoulder), who was
in WWII said to do it.
This is getting to complicated to continue.

I signed in earlier today, and I realized that I had some things that I could share with you - NO STRINGS! I mentioned earlier
that I collect Army Crests. In my job I travel from posts to posts, and since I'm retired AF I can go into Clothing Sales
on each Post, and I buy crests to go in my collection. Usually they come two to a box, and I only need one for my collection.
I have a desk drawer full of the extra crests. They are, for the most part still in the box, with name of the unit on the
box. If you would like them I'll send them to you -NO STRINGS ATTACHED, I'll even pay the postage - just send me your address,
and in the future, as I pick up more I'll send those to you too.
Now I'm the middle generation of a three generation AF family. My Father was WWII (the 451st Bomb Group). Dad's gone but
his memory is always there, and to keep the memory alive I get the "451 AD LIB", a newspaper for the Group. Of course the
WWII folks are going on to a "formation in the sky." Soon there won't be any more of those warriors around. In the last
issue of the 441 AD LIB I wrote the following note, not only as a tribute to my Father, but the other members of the 451st
Bomb Group: "I'm told that you are having your last reunion this year. That brings a lump to my throat and a tear to my eye,
but I understand! What a grand and glorious legacy you left for those who followed you. When it's all said and done, may
each of you be able to say: 'I reached up and touched the face of GOD, all the while humming 'Off we go into the wild blue...'"

Great Site. Wonderful tribute to your friend. I also served in the Infantry, but as an 11C (mortar maggot, bubble chaser).
I didn't stay 20 years but did love the time I was serving and would not change that experience for the world. I have been
trying to find a song that was made using part of the Infantryman's Creed. They played it for us when I was down in Benning
during OSUT (at Harmony Church). It was part of a video presentation in the beginning of our training. It included the words
"when freedom called, I answered, I was there". I have searched the net and can not find this song. If you remember this
