Comments: We became official Florida residents on May 2nd and as we were driving home from the store today Rob realized it was Mother's Day and before he thought about it he wished me a Happy Mother's Day. Tears immediately welled up in my eyes...it was truly a reminder I did not need. You would have loved living here and it would have been very accessible for you but I know even though it would have been easier in some ways it still would not have been your choice. We took Grandpop out of the veteran's home and he's here with us and so far he's doing good. He went fishing off our dock yesterday with Rob and he caught three fish. We made fast friends with Conrad & Sandy Sarina who live in the community and Conrad especially took a special liking to my Dad and he says he's having the time of his life. Tomorrow morning at 8 we're going out on Lake Griffin and we're going to check out the boats for sale. I've still got alot of unpacking/organizing to do but am enjoying fixing up our new house. I sure do wish you were here with me! You're never far from my thoughts, I love you Eric.

Comments: Saturday it was 71 degrees and a sad reminder to me and your dad that this time 3 years ago you were enjoying the warm weather too by riding your bike to work. Your accident happened at lunch time and I still relive David Paul telling me how he came out to see your feet splayed to the side and how his heart dropped because he knew that meant paralysis. Since that time there have been two major changes; ReWalk came out and President Obama signed a bill reversing the ban on stem cell research (yesterday of all days, one day before the anniversary of your accident). Changes continue with me too, Rob is retiring in June and we bought a property in Florida so we'll be moving as soon as he completes his work commitments. Many major life changes over the last couple of years...I have to admit I have a hard time leaving the area where your roots were but you will always be with me in spirit. I MISS YOU and LOVE YOU Eric!

Comments: Yesterday was really weird, Barry got a call at 5am that there was a serious accident in his township and the 20 year old driver went airborn and was left paralyzed from the neck down. He is now at Jefferson Hospital in the same unit you were in. The things going thru his head right now are probably the same thoughts you had. All I could do was think of you. This happened on the anniversary of your death. I started to remember all the times you asked my why I thought this happened 2U, if God was there with U and how I could give U faith to get U thru this. At times, I feel I failed U. I wonder what I could have done or said to get thru 2U. We miss U so much. The kids are growing and it pains me 2 know that U can't share all the teen drama with us. Your advice was right on and U were never a parent, U always said the right things to help. I miss that. We all do. U were and are loved. I know you found your peace and all your questions are now answered. One day, we will all know why this had to happen 2U. We will see U again and be able to hear your voice and laughter. Most of all we will enjoy your sarcasm. We love U!

Comments: You know I talk to you in my head so many times a day. You probably think I'm crazy but it helps me because I miss you so much and want you to know how I feel and felt. I wish things turned out so differently. I thought about you all day yesterday and imagined what you must have went through that day 2 years ago. I just wish I could have been there for you the way you were for me when I felt that way... I see things of yours and hold onto them as if I was holding onto you. I try to move forward in life but it isn't always easy. There's always so much I need and want to say to you. I won't ramble on here because you've heard me say these things already. I just wanted to say something here on this site and to see the pictures of you smiling all throughout it. Those pictures are always in my heart right next to all the love I will always feel for you. I love you and I hope you always keep that in your heart and not the issues we had or the stupid things I did when I felt that you didn't feel the way I did. I learned a lot from you and try so very hard not to make the same mistakes I did before in honor of all you taught me about me.

Comments: Eric, today is the day you disappeared from my life forever, the day the new memories stopped. Today I went with Rob to help him with a job in Audubon. Many times you & I traveled those roads and I hadn't been down that way since your death. As we retraced the route you & I drove so many times, I felt like I was having an anxiety attack...my heart was pounding in my chest and all I could see was me driving to pick you up from Globus and then driving you back to your Dad's place. I still can't talk about you without being on the verge of tears when your name comes up in conversation. I don't like having to endure holidays and special occasion without you and knowing that I will never have a grandchild of my own or a continuing relationship with you. I'm left with endless unanswerable questions, trying to understand what isn't understandable. I want the impossible, I want you back. From my heart...Mom

Comments: Honey, I came across a new product on the internet today that helps paraplegics walk...it's called ReWalk and is supposed to be available in February 2009. With the two year anniversary of your death coming up it saddens me deeply that you felt technology would not come up with anything in time to improve your life or the lives of other paralyzed people. I have vivid memories of your Dad and I keeping your knees locked so you could pull yourself up to stand for a few minutes and what a struggle it was for you. I know how important standing was and this product would have enabled you to do that in addition to walking, climbing and descending stairs. When Rob & I watched the video of a man who had been in a wheelchair for 20 years get up and walk, our hearts ached for you. I do wonder what you would have thought about the technology, but after seeing your drawings for hydraulic leg braces, this company comes as close as anyone to your vision. I wish you had lived to use this technology and although it's not the "holy grail" it's a great start. I miss you so much and think about you everyday Eric. I love you.

Your generosity was greatly appreciated and it is our hope that it will make a difference in the life of someone afflicted with paraplegia.

Comments: It's been one year since your death and I still can't believe you're gone. I MISS YOU ERIC, there is such an emptiness in my heart. I want to be able to share good news with you, to come see you whenever I want, to know that you're there for me whenever I need you. When the phone rings I want to pick it up and hear your voice. I keep thinking you've got to be here somewhere and I'll be able to see you. In my head I know I'll never see you here on earth again as I remember you, but my heart can't accept it. I drive by your house often, expecting you to be sitting out on the stoop or enjoying your back yard. To me, it will always be YOUR house and I feel closer to you when I'm there. I cherish the good times we had and even though we had bad times too and I was an imperfect parent, I'm so thankful for your life. I just wish every day didn't have to be a goodbye, I wish you hadn't been faced with such difficult choices. I can't imagine how hard it must have been...as time goes on I understand your reasoning more and more but understanding doesn't make it easier to bear. Maybe someday... You'll always be in my heart-I LOVE YOU. Mom

Comments: Hi Honey, Today is the one year anniversary of your accident and I think about you ALOT everyday, and your Dad and I miss you like crazy! I didn’t want to let this day pass without acknowledging what occurred today. It will soon be spring and we would have been landscaping around your pond and anxiously looking forward to all your plantings coming into season. How I will miss that with you! You took such pride in how nice your yard looked and I enjoyed every minute planning and helping you. I wish we would have had more time together (I thought we had a lifetime) but you never know what life is going to throw your way. I wanted to see you have a family, a successful career and watch you grow old. But, it was not to be…. You are sorely missed and always on my mind. I love you… Mom

Comments: Eric, You came into my life at the beginning of my adulthood. You had a huge impact on the woman I am today. You showed me how to let go and live life for the moment, to cherish each one and to enjoy even the simplest of things. You set your needs aside for me on many occasions, showing me that a selfless act can bring great rewards. Many of the happiest moment of my life have been with you and I thank you for all of them. Through our relationship I learned what it truly means to love another, to be in love and to be loved, and would never settle for less than the very high value you placed on all of them. You left me with the strength to over come life’s most difficult challenges, the ability to get back up when you’re knocked down again and again, to find humor in the midst of sadness and despair, to know when to fight, to back down and how to pick and choose your battles with deliberation. Just to name a few. I find comfort knowing that although your life was cut short you lived each moment never hesitating to take a risk, making certain you gained all that you could from each and every experience (of which you had so many). I will miss you more that words can say, will think of you often and will continue to live life as each day is the last – I admire your courage! Love, Shari

Comments: Eric: In many ways you were like a brother than a close friend. I can not remember a time where you were not there at one of my family functions. It would be nothing to have my mother ask, "Where's Eric?" That meant so much to me. You were a brother, a friend, a teacher, a counselor (many times), the best man at my wedding and godfather to my first born, Andrew. Andrew, Aaron and Grace all called you Uncle Eric. That meant so much to me as well as it did to them. There was always a spot at our dinner table for you and man could you eat. It was nothing to hear Rita say,"Is Eric staying for dinner?" That meant so much to me. You went through so many of the progressions in my life. There were a lot of roads in life that I probably would not have traveled on if it was not for you. There was so much more... and now it is gone. I understand. Believe me, I do. You will always be a part of my family. I will truly miss you, my brother. I love you. Barry
