Shannen, I was finally able to make it to the end of your post on Cierra's birthday. Every time I tried to read it, I would
have to stop. How beautiful! It made me soo sad, but soo happy. Just like the time we had with Cierra. I have never had
such joy in my life, but also never had such pain. I was supposed to be her protecter. I promised her! I just couldn't
keep my promise. I tried. Remember how I would fight the nurses and doctors? I would argue at Chucky Cheese if the kids
were mean to her. I would tell her things to say back to them (I hate to admit that). I tried harder than I have ever tried
anything in my life. But, in the end, it just wasn't enough. I will always have this huge hole in my heart. I call it soul
pain. It is deeper than I can even explain. I am soo proud of the mother you were to Cierra. The caregiver, friend, companion.
You were it all. I also am proud of the way you didn't trust anyone (other than me) with Cierra's care. You didn't show
how tired you got or how much you were missing out on. She was your only concern. How amazing you are. Don't ever forget
that. I love you very much and will forever be thankful that I was able to be a part of Cierra's short time here.

me in tears. I was remembering all the WONDERFUL birthday parties you gave Cierra. As Aj told me he somewhat remembers the

Today I google searched poems for 1 year passings (I lost a dear friend last June) and your site came up, at first I thought
this is not what I was looking for but I kept on reading and now 1 1/2 hours and half a box of tissues later I can't even
explain what I am feeling. Cierra was a BEAUTIFUL little angel and extremely strong. I am not sure if I could have kept going

I remember when Cierra would pick 2 people to stay inside with her at recess and everone would always raise their hand. I
was always so happy when I got picked. I remember this one time when Cierra picked me, and a boy named Brandon. We played
the dot game and Cierra pointed out that the first letter of our names were ABC. I remember I was losing really badly, but
in the end we all tied. I really don't know how I remember that. :) |

Shannen, just wanted to check in on Cierra's birthday today because I'll be in OC, Md. on Sunday. I read what you wrote under
the 2008 Balloon Release, about it hurting just as much now as it did then. I can't even tell Cierra's story without getting
choked up, I can't imagine what you feel. I know that the pain will never fully go away, but I hope it becomes easier to bear

Hi Shannen, I think of you and Cierra often. Thanks for sharing your life and I am sure it has helped many. I have many
memories of Cierra. When Kathy and I were good friends she watched her every Monday night while you worked and she often would
bring Cierra into the Holiday Inn while I was working. One time, I took Laken and Kathy took Cierra to the mall Trick or
Treating. Cierra was a cat. And one more funny little memory, we had a baby shower for Shanna and you and Cierra were there
and Cierra wrote on my coasters with a pen. I know its silly but it was funny at the time.

I don't know if you remember who I am I'm the girl scout leader who brought Christmas gifts from the girl scout troop the
Christmas before Cierra passed away. I just wanted you to know that I often think about Cierra and about you and say prayer

I'm helping with this years "shop with a cop". We are taking ten children in our area shopping for the holidays with
our local police! While out looking for donations I came across a teddy bear in Boscov's. One all the benifits go to CHOP,
the other to Alex's Lemonade Stand!!!! Lovely bears. Only $10.00. I'm off to buy for our cause. Was thinking of Cierra.
We have two "Make A Wish" Children and it had me thinking of her. Just wanted to let you know she is always thought of and

I met this lady at bowling last night. She has cancer and was talking to me about it. I told her about Elijah. Her
answer was listen to him. She had a dear friend in High School who was killed by a drunk driver. She has appeared to her
several times over her years. One of the reasons she found the lump in her breast. Early detection may have saved her life.
Oh yes, she is a hospice nurse!! I gave her Cierra's website cause she wanted to learn about her. Hope you don't mind.

The other day when we were going out to lunch Elijah asked his mother if he could go and see Cierra. We drove into the cemetary
and let him out of the car. He ran up and we could see him talking. When he came back to the car I asked him what was said.
He told me Cierra said she loved me too!! She said she was coming down to see me at my house!! Kids. Aren't they amazing. |

well, we made it through the balloon release on the anniversary of Cierra's passing in march. Also, Cierra's mommy and george
got married in hawaii. it was beautiful. and best of all, Cierra was there in spirit and also some strange things that happened.
like a butterfly that wouldn't leave shannen's finger. and finally, we made it through another birthday. it would have
been Cierra's 11th. it seems like only yesterday i was playing with Cierra and giggling with her. i still have nice dreams
and wake feeling like i just spent time playing again. shannen is having a hard time updating this website, so please be
patient. in her own time. hopefully, she will post pictures. thanks for all the memories and thoughts everyone posts.

HI Shannen. I know that you don't know me, but I worked with you mom at Wachovia for a few yrs. The story of you and your
daughter really touched me and I think of you every year. My youngest daughter, Dalaney's bday is on 3/17. She just turned
2 this yr and I thank God everyday for my blessings. As any mom, my children are the world to me, and knowing that you went

Hi...I was just thinking about Cierra the other day and all of the times when I would go over to your house with my mom when
Sarah went over to play. I remember we used to play "Old Maid" together and then that time when we got in Cierra's big yellow
bus. I made her laugh so hard because I was tipping over the bus and making it fall on top of Cierra and Sarah! We had so

Aunt Deb, remember all the dinners we had. I remember one time Cierra, Taylor, and I all dressed up with clothes in your attick.
And all the dinners we had with the food fights. And Cierra's pork tender loin. Remember she would never let you get anything
else but the pork. We always ate the same things, pork with her favorite bbq sauce, mashed potatos, corn, and cresent rolls.

I'll always remember how she would make me ride in the backseat of the car with her. She would get so mad if I would ride
in the front. Remember all the times we went to Olive Garden and she would get her very own side of salad dressing and a side

I was thinking today...why isn't any of this getting any easier? Everybody keeps saying that time heals. But, it's been
3 yrs and every morning I think about Cierra first thing. Then throughout the day into the night. When I really think about
what happened, I get soooo mad and just hate everything and everybody. But, then I calm down and go on. I realized today
that losing Cierra was like losing a part of my body. Like an amputee losing a leg or arm. The loss is always foremost on
their mind. The pain, at times is unbearable. Life will never be the same as before. But, in time they learn to compensate
for the lost limb. My problem is, when Cierra left, I lost a huge piece of my heart. As a grandma, what could be worse than
losing your baby's baby? So, I guess that's why it isn't getting easier. How can I compensate for this. I can't replace
the piece of my heart that is gone. That's why I haven't been able to be happy or stop being so mad at the world and God.
So, for those of you who have had to deal with my outbursts of anger and rage, I'll say I'm sorry. For those who will have
to deal in the future, I'll say I'm sorry in advance. It's probably not you or anything you've done. It's just that I am
here with only a partial heart and just don't know how to pretend sometimes. But, here's a warning...DONT TELL ME TO MOVE
ON OR THAT ITS TIME TO GET OVER IT! I will never 'get over it' and don't want to. |

Hey Shannen! Remember the Christmas vacation I spent with you guys? I think that year the only days I was actually at my house
was Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. That was the year we lost Chloe and then we all had to make a two day trip to Virginia
to get Posie. Remember when we went into Subway with Posie in the "red bag"? All Cierra kept saying was how she loved her
little red bag! I just took Steve out to visit Cierra for the first time about two weeks ago. We put flowers out for her.

With the holidays here, I've been thinking about Cierra alot.... Do you remember how you and mam mam would run all over earth

After having breakfast with my grandchildren and Santa we walked out with the boys carring balloons. Avery clung to his but

Cierra, did you come to me in my dreams last night? i had the strangest dream. i don't remember where i was but all of
a sudden someone yelled to me and said they think Cierra is here. I picked you up in my arms and wasn't sure it was you until
you opened your eyes. then i knew for sure. you said you wanted to visit me for a while because you knew i could handle
it finally. oh my God, what a realistic dream this was. we played and you and mommy reunited and no hair and taylor. it
was soooo real. it seemed to last all night. i could feel you and smell you. you told me you were happy and liked visiting
but wanted to go home. that broke my heart but also made me happy. when you left, you said you would visit mommy soon.
that she wasnt quite ready yet. i woke up then and kept thinking about the dream. i kept trying to go back to sleep hoping
to continue it, but it didnt happen. part of me thinks this was just my subconscience, but another part believes it was real.
i hope you come see me again real soon. today i have a deep deep pit in my stomach like 2 years ago. i am crying over
everything, but, it is worth it. i love you and miss you so much. mamam |

Shannen, I'm not sure if you remember me or not....but my mother use to watch Cierra....I found the newspaper article of Cierra
a couple of months ago...and I check the page out when i'm on....Nov. of last year my father passed away....and he is in the
same cem. as Cierra....My mom and I went to look for Cierra....and we found her....The poem on the back made me cry...I remember
when you would pick her up from my house when I was little too...and you would bring me glitter nail polish from your job
(haha)....But I just wanted to say Gob bless you....and I miss Cierra a lot!

remember when you Kathy and I would get ready for girls night out, and she would dress up too... she always had so much jewelry

i also remember getting you christmas presents from her and we'd wrap em and she'd hide them in her little fridge and oven
in her play kitchen. and man, that girl could keep a secret! also around christmas when we would make candy. she always made
sure we made peanut butter cups cuz, "they're mommy's FAVORITE!" or the time her and i made cookies and i put the confectioners
sugar instead of sugar. She just kept saying, " thats not what they're suppose to look like" or when we made you a birthday

i was in the bathroom earlier and i thought about when i would help cierra in the bathroom and how she always wanted to tell
hour long stories while on the potty. all you'd want to do is for her to finish but she'd keep on talking. thats how i found
out in chuck - E chesse bathroom that she didnt know why tyson got mad if you went with the girls because you just wanted

I also remember when Cierra would stay in for recess. Shannen, you would always try to get Cierra to play another game besides
the dot game. She was so good at it. I remember the one time you tried to get her to play "Don't Break the Ice" and she
wanted no part of it. I also remember one time you and I were talking in the classroom and Cierra needed you, but we were
too busy talking. She got up out of her seat and came over to us. She pointed her finger at you and said "Do you mean to
tell me everytime I need you, I'm going to have to get up out of my seat and come and get you!" She was mad. I loved her

I remember Cierra would stay in from recess because she could not go outside, and she would pick 2 people 2 stay in with her.
The one time she picked a boy named Brandon and me. Our initials spelled ABC, and I still remember we played the dot game

remember the time cierra and me made you go across the atrium into the playroom and dance. we were in cierra's room watching.
we laughed so hard because everyone in the hospital could see you but you still did it to make cierra laugh. remember how
she used to make mike "no hair" wear the rubber glove on his bald head and walk around with it. oh my gosh, i just remembered
the dancing at hershey medical right in front of the security cameras. we really didnt hold back when it came to making cierra

I remember at the hospital she used to get so mad at the doctors and nurses and one time a wound care nurse was checking a
bad sore right above her butt on her tailbone and she just finally had enough and yelled," Get you hands out of my freakin
butt!" This lady was so shocked along with everyone else in the day hospital room that heard (other patients and parents.)
I also remember in the hospital when my mom was there, Cierra and my mom decided it would be great to take my sweatshrt (I
had on a zip up hoody) and put my hood up and tye (major knot)the string so tight I couldn't see. They zipped me up and threw
me out in the hall. Cierra watched through the window on her door as I flailed around the hall, unable to see, trying to find
the door and get this knot out with others in te hall, which I could hear BUT NOT SEE! When I got into the room , Cierra was
laughing so hard, she said,"I just peed my pants!"
