Great history of the parish. I was born & raised in Holy Name parish and attended the school from 1949 to 1957. Our first
Holy Communion class was the last one where the boys wore a white suit with short pants. |

It was wonderful to see this web site. My husbands great-grand mother, Helen McArdle, and his great-aunt, Helen Maguire,
are buried along side of Rev Francis McArdle at Holy Cross Cemetery. Helen was married to Joseph McArdle. I'm not sure of
the relationship with the Rev. Francis, though, I'm sure it was a strong one, as after the death of Helen Maguire (1967) the
entire estate was left to the Holy Name of Jesus Parish. We often wondered what happend to the trinkets and photos of the
Maguie/McArdle families that lived at 1070 No. Front street since the late 1800's. I thank you again for this beautiful web
site of this wonderful parish. |

James C. McDonough, O.P. was my uncle and the 1st person to be ordained at Holy Name. He and his family were residents on
Berks St. I have many memories from the family telling stories about the old neighborhood. |

I was the 8th grade teacher at the school in 1998-1999. I enjoyed working with the people of Fishtown very much. I misss the
people very much. I no longer teach because I had heart attack back in 2006. To all of my former students--I miss you and

I grew up in fishtown and no matter where I lived my heart was always in Fishtown & Holy Name so when I had the chance to
join the parish again there was no way I was not going to do it and now I am really at home. |
