2 and 2 together relized my grandfater was a C.B.. I have tried to find out more about him from memory and he was a huge part
of my childhood.
If anyone knew a Raymond "Buzz" Barton I would love to hear their stories. |

Are there any good Veteran Service Officers (VSO) out there? We think so. In fact, we have a growing directory of VSOs nominated
by veterans. These VSOs have demonstrated excellence in helping veterans secure service-connected claims and increase ratings.
They return phone calls too. If you need a good VSO in your area visit our web site at http://www.veteranprograms.com.
Keep up the good work on this site. As stated previously, we added it to our monthly newsletter as a resource for all veterans.

My Dad served in World War II during the 1944-46 era. I have some of his pics and a copy of the Notice of Separation. On
his separation paper, he was a steelworker 1st class and with the Acorn 47 unit at a Naval Air Base possibly located in the
Philippines. The number 3291 appears after NAB Navy. He was at the NTC Great Lakes, Illinois for boot camp, and then sent
to AA&D Port Hueneme, CA. Would like to know if my Dad was a Seebee. He rarely spoke of his Navy experience. He is now deceased
and my brothers and sister would like to know more about his Navy experience during WWII. |

Just have to say this site is an excellent memorial to the fighting 76th. Being a SEABEE myself I am always dissappointed
to see the my fellow bees of the past and present often go unnoticed in the great feats which they accomplish every day.

My mom was 15 years old at the time the war ended. She is from the village of Piti, their home faced Apra harbor. She and her
syblings watched the construction on Cabras Island. We still have pictures with Cabras in the back ground before it was attached
to Guam. She and her sister also saw the sub sneak in and blow up the Tokai Maru. Mom shares her memoires with us and so did
her mother. We have all enjoyed them. |

Been researching my family tree and am collecting info on my grandfather Leeland Deney who was part of the 38th NCB. I have
two of the rare books "The 38th NCB SAGA. Wonderful photos, found Grandpa in 3 photos. He also served in WW1 and is shown
in uniform. In back is a list of men with their home address's; many are listed. I was too young at the time for him to tell
me stories, but WOW ! That bitter cold and all that construction they did. I got a kick out of the drawings that were done
in the memory book. Now sharing that info with my son who is very interested in Military History. Glad to see theres a site
in memory of the work my grandfather was involved in. Thanks |

of Daddy and two of his men. They are surveying but I don't know if it was a road or an airstrip. He was 41 years old when
he enlisted in 1942. His BS from the U. of Nebraska was in Geology and he had a great deal of Civil Engineering experience.

My father was on Guam during Lion 6. He wrote me this after I read your site and sent it to him. "The SS Hawaiian Shipper
was the ship I was on when we landed on Guam. We went in after the second wave of marines to set up a Naval Base. Since
I was a Petty Officer, my first crew cleaned off the area of dead japs and body parts and buried them. Then we dug latrines
after the camp ground was laid out. Just anything that needed to be done my crew of six sailors and I did, from setting up
hanging water bags to erecting tents in rows (11x11 pyramid type-two or three man types.) By the time we got this all done
the Seabees had established a water system, mess hall tents, and hospital section. There were casualties arriving daily from
other islands. The Seabees did a remarkable job building a complete navy station where there was nothing but rubble! Lion
6 was the second huge battalion constructed after 1,2,3,&4 had already been assigned to Guadal Canal. Lion 6 was to be the
last unit to Tokyo!"

My father was James H. McGlathery. He was a second class PO that arrived on the day that Guam was declared secured. I am
searching for any history that anyone might know. He passed away on February 26th, 2007. |
